There is a lot of confusion when merging. The old rule was to give way to the right even if the car on the right was a little behind us. That rule changed over 10 years ago but many people are still unaware.
The currant rule states that the car in front on a merging road has the right of way regardless of whether or not he is in the left or the right lane.
Marmion street in Willagee near the licencing centre is a case in point. It is regularly used in a practical driving test as it is a single lane coming into double lanes at the lights, then immediately returning to one lane. many times cars overtake or attempt to overtake in this highly dangerous situation especially if a L plate is displayed.
A little courtesy would be much appreciated by learner drivers. Happy driving
